Custom Springs

Bonnel Coils

Most companies use round hour glass shape coils called Bonnel Coils.  They are the most common innersprings used in flat beds and are still prevalent in low to mid priced mattresses.  Bonnel Coils cost less to purchase so many companies will use them in their mattress on an adjustable bed to save on cost. But this is not ideal.  When the mattress bends, the round coils can overlap each other and tend to rub the mattress from the inside out--which shortens the life of the mattress.

Hinge-Flex ^® Coil

HINGE-FLEX is a patented construction feature on Sleep Comfort adjustable bed mattresses. The knotted-offset HINGE-FLEX coil is often recognized as a natural step up in inner-springs. The knotted-offset system has a coil head – shown in the photo at the right – that is designed to act as a hinge.

The two offset bars on both top and bottom of the convolution encourage movement and flexibility. HINGE-FLEX owes its strength and durability to a tightly-sewn helical wire and heavier gauge steel coils than standard springs.

We ensure that each coil has a full five turns and is heated twice to provide proper body lift and the strength to maintain proper spinal alignment. This unit is sensitive to body contours, improves sleeping comfort and is simply the BEST of its kind.

Sleep Comfort uses only the patented HINGE-FLEX coil in all our standard top inner-spring mattress.

Border Edge Support

When you're buying a mattress for an adjustable bed, make sure there's proper support on the edges. Flat bed mattresses have a border wire that goes around the top and bottom of the mattress which keeps the springs in place.

Adjustable bed mattresses don't have that wire so they will bend more easily. Without proper border support, there is nothing to keep the springs from collapsing when you're getting in or out of bed. And, if you're not sleeping exactly in the center of your mattress, you almost feel as if you're slanting to one side.

Most stores don't specialize in adjustable beds – so their inner-spring mattresses used on adjustable beds often lack proper side support. This limits both the space you can use on the mattress and the useful life of the mattress which is reflected in its limited warranty.

Sleep Comfort has always secured the edges of its inner-spring mattresses so they can bend properly but still provide the same side support that you're used to on your flat bed mattress. And recently we've improved both the method and materials used to create that comfortable feel and support you need.

New and improved!

Sleep Comfort is constantly re-inventing quality and improving our beds. We recently changed our border edge support feature – and have increased the edge support foam by over 50%.

Previously, we placed a 1 1/2 inch insert inside the perimeter springs. Although effective, this limited the amount of support foam. So we now secure the entire spring set inside a firm foam rail of between 45 and 50 ILD. In addition, we strategically place two-inch gaps of softer support foam so the mattress will hinge and bend properly on the adjustable bed.

Mattress Firmness

At Sleep Comfort, we understand that everyone may feel differently about firmness. So, although the inside of each standard top Sleep Comfort adjustable mattress is constructed to provide the same lifetime support, we vary the padding and the stitching pattern to provide you with a choice of either dual-firm or dual-plush comfort.

Most companies save money by building a one-sided or "non-flip" mattress. But how does that help you? You should get your money's worth. At Sleep Comfort, we build each mattress with two sides. All our standard top mattresses are double-sided with dual firmness so you can flip the mattress and use the other side whenever you want.

And with our classic style, dual-firmness adjustable bed mattress – each side can be different so you can always find just the right feel. Sleep Comfort takes the guesswork out of choosing a mattress. Our classic style mattress is approximately 11.5 inches thick and is available with the following three firmnesses.
